360° surround-view calibration, end to end

Four cameras, one bird's-eye image. The stitching only works when every camera is calibrated to the same baseline.

The short answer

Surround-view cameras live in the grille, mirrors and tailgate. A small shift in any one creates a blind seam. Focal ADAS re-stitches all four into a clean, OEM-spec bird's-eye image.

360° surround-view calibration, end to end

A 360° surround-view system isn't really four cameras. It's one virtual top-down image stitched from four feeds in real time. The stitch only works if every camera knows exactly where it is relative to the vehicle. Move any panel that holds a camera, and the seam between feeds shifts, leaving blind triangles in what looks like a continuous view.

When the surround-view system needs to be calibrated

  • Front or rear bumper R&I or replacement
  • Side mirror housing replacement
  • Tailgate, trunk or liftgate repair
  • Any individual surround camera R&R

How Focal ADAS performs the job

Surround-view calibration is a target-mat procedure. Calibrated mats are laid around the vehicle to specific dimensions, the vehicle is centered to a reference, and the scan tool walks each camera through its alignment using the mats as known reference points. All four cameras are then re-stitched and the result verified on the head unit.

Why all four cameras are calibrated together

Even if only one camera was disturbed, the stitch is a system result. The OEM procedure calls for a full system calibration, not a single-camera trim, and that's what we deliver, with one report covering the entire system.
