When this calibration is required
Triggers below come from the manufacturer's published procedure for the build. Any one of them is enough to put the line on the file.
- After mirror, bumper, grille, or tailgate work affecting a camera
- After collision damage near any surround-view camera
- After camera replacement
- When the OEM procedure for the VIN requires it, which Focal ADAS checks on every job
How Focal ADAS performs it
- 1Pre-scan and VIN decode
Full pre-scan plus the build-specific surround-view procedure pulled from the OEM service portal.
- 2Pattern layout
OEM target mats are laid around the vehicle at exact offsets from the wheel centers and bumper corners.
- 3Per-camera calibration
Front, rear and both side cameras calibrated in the order the OEM procedure specifies, each verified before moving on.
- 4Stitch verification
Live bird's-eye view checked on the head unit for seam alignment, scale, and parking-line accuracy.
- 5Post-scan and documentation
Clean post-scan, completion record, and setup photos delivered with the invoice.
What the shop gets
- Pre-repair scan report (all modules)
- Post-repair scan report (all modules)
- OEM calibration procedure reference (build-specific)
- Calibration completion record from the scan tool
- Setup photos of targets / drive evidence
- Itemized invoice — pass-through ready
Single-system calibrations start at $349, multi-system jobs quoted by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Why do all four cameras need to be calibrated if only one was replaced?+
The system stitches as a set. Recalibrating one without rebaselining the others usually leaves visible seams. The OEM procedure calibrates the array, not the individual camera.
How much floor space does the pattern layout need?+
Roughly one vehicle-length of clear floor around the car on every side. A standard bay with the next bay clear is plenty.
Will dynamic guidelines still work after calibration?+
Yes — the steering-linked overlays use the same calibrated camera baseline. We verify the overlays track correctly before releasing the vehicle.
